1. Who we are

The British Preparatory School (BPS) is an early years school registered in the Kingdom of Bahrain, located at Building 12–14, Entrance 300, Saar Avenue. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean the British Preparatory School.

We are the data controller for the personal information described below. If you have any question about how we handle information, contact us at info@bpsbh.com or on 17792010.

2. What information we collect

We only collect what we actually need. Through this website that means:

• Enquiry and application details. Your name, your child's name, your child's date of birth, your email address, telephone number, intended start date and anything you choose to write in the message field.
• Contact you initiate. If you email, call or message us on WhatsApp, we hold that correspondence and the number or address you contacted us from.
• Basic technical information. Our hosting provider records standard server information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the site running and secure.

We do not ask for payment card details through this website, and you should never send card numbers, passwords or identity documents to us by email or WhatsApp.

3. Children's information

We are a school for children aged 18 months to six years, so some of the information we hold relates to young children. We treat it with particular care.

• Information about a child is only ever provided to us by a parent or legal guardian. This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information directly from a child.
• We collect the minimum needed to process an application and to place a child in the right year group.
• Children's information is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties for their own purposes.

4. Why we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

• Respond to your enquiry and arrange a visit to the school
• Process an application and assess the right year group for your child
• Contact you about admissions, fees, offers and enrolment
• Meet our legal, regulatory and safeguarding obligations in Bahrain
• Keep this website secure and working properly

We rely on your consent when you submit an enquiry, on the steps necessary to enter into a contract when you apply for a place, and on our legal obligations as a registered school.

We will not send you marketing you did not ask for, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only where it is necessary, and only with:

• Google. Our application form is hosted on Google Forms, so the information you enter there is processed by Google.
• Our website host (Netlify). They process standard server information in order to serve this site, and receive the details you type into our enquiry form so they can pass them on to us.
• Regulators and authorities in Bahrain, where we are legally required to provide information.
• Professional advisers, such as auditors or lawyers, where genuinely needed.

Level Up Education Centre runs clubs and camps on our campus. Where your child takes part, we share only what is necessary for them to run the activity safely.

6. Information held outside Bahrain

Some of the services above, including Google Forms and our website hosting, store information on servers outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the information remains protected to a standard consistent with Bahraini data protection law.

7. How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not lead to an application: up to two years, then deleted.
• Applications that do not lead to enrolment: up to two years, in case you apply again.
• Enrolled pupils: for the period required by Bahraini law and our safeguarding obligations.

8. Your rights

Under the Personal Data Protection Law of the Kingdom of Bahrain you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you or your child
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
• Ask us to delete information where we no longer have a reason to keep it
• Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent
• Complain to the relevant Bahraini authority if you are not satisfied with our response

To exercise any of these, email info@bpsbh.com. We will respond within the period required by law. We may need to verify your identity first, to make sure we are not disclosing a child's information to the wrong person.

9. Photography and video

We sometimes photograph and film school life for this website, our prospectus and our Instagram account.

• We seek written consent from a parent or legal guardian before publishing any image or recording in which a child is identifiable.
• Consent can be withdrawn at any time by emailing us, and we will remove the image from material we control as soon as reasonably possible.
• Parent testimonials appear on this website with the consent of the individuals in them.
• At school events attended by families, we ask that any photography by parents is for personal use only and is not posted publicly where other people's children are identifiable.

10. Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and does not profile you.

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your IP address is shared with Google in order to deliver them. Embedded video, where present, only loads once you press play, so nothing is requested from the video provider until you choose to watch.

11. Security

This site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, and access to admissions information is limited to staff who need it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

By using this website you agree to the following.

Accuracy of information

We try to keep this website accurate and current, but content is provided for general information only. Fees, timings, term dates, curriculum details and staffing may change. Nothing on this website forms an offer of a place or a binding contract. Please confirm anything you intend to rely on with the admissions office before acting on it.

Intellectual property

All content on this website, including text, images, photographs, video, the BPS name and the BPS crest, belongs to the British Preparatory School or is used with permission. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, sell or use our content or branding for any other purpose without our written permission.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use this website to do anything unlawful, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, to disrupt it, or to submit false, abusive or misleading information through our forms.

Links to other websites

This website links to third-party sites and services, including Google Forms, WhatsApp, Instagram and Level Up Education Centre. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and their own terms will apply.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Bahraini law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website, or from reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the courts of Bahrain have exclusive jurisdiction.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed, and continued use of the website means you accept the current version.
